The Matahari Linen and Teak Wall Lamp

CHF 801.00 Sale price

The Matahari Wall Lamp is from Ong Cen Kuang's "Alam Collection". In Arabic literature and ancient text, it uses "Alam" in phrases like "Rab-ul-Alam-een" = "the Lord of all Worlds/Universes" referring to The Absolute and Highest Divinity. In Hebrew, Olam is used in phrases like "Adon Olam", meaning "Master of the World," one of the names of God in Judaism.

Here, designer Budiman Ong and his team created the Alam Collection because they were inspired by nature and the call of things organic and natural. For lovers of the intriguing art of origami, you can see its strong inspiration throughout this paper cut piece. You don't have to look hard to catch glimpses of light piercing through the geometric patterns, creating an interesting dynamic of light and shadow.

Our clients are drawn to this piece when they have the need for subtle light that acts to softly illuminate the mirror's surroundings. For some of our clients, it knocks two items off their list. To quote one interior designer, "My client wanted something original and she was looking for a small mirror and a wall lamp. This was a 2-in-1 for me; a win-win!"

So in this case, "Mirror mirror on the wall who is the fairest lamp of all?" Alam, the name says it all.
